My Best Friend's Log — Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 21, 2026
How the My Best Friend's Log iOS app handles your information. In short: your pet's records stay on your device by default, we don't collect your name or email unless you add it, and your data is never sold.
The short version: My Best Friend's Log keeps your data on your device by default. We use Sign in with Apple, which gives us an anonymous identifier — we don't collect your name or email unless you choose to add it. Your pet's records are yours, they're never sold, and the app never diagnoses your pet.
Who this applies to
This policy covers the My Best Friend's Log mobile application for iOS, published by Brushline, Inc. (“Brushline,” “we,” “us”). It is separate from the brushline.ai website policy.
How sign-in works
The app uses Sign in with Apple. This provides us with an anonymous, app-specific identifier rather than your real name or email address. You can use Apple's “Hide My Email” feature, and we will only ever see a relay address if you contact us. We do not collect owner personal information unless you explicitly choose to provide it.
Local-first by design
Creating pets, logging entries, editing, and viewing your history all work without an account, stored on your device. You are only asked to sign in when you do something that genuinely needs the cloud:
- Backing up or syncing your data across devices;
- Generating a vet report; or
- Sharing a pet with a co-caregiver.
When you first sign in, the data already on your device is uploaded into your account so it can be backed up and synced.
What we store
- Pet information you enter: species, name, age, and an optional photo.
- Daily logs: mood, energy, and appetite ratings, plus optional weight, notes, and photos.
- Account data: the anonymous Apple identifier and basic settings, only once you sign in.
- Co-caregiver sharing: if you invite someone, we store the connection needed to share the relevant pet's records with them.
We store information about your pet, not information about you. We do not collect contacts, precise location, browsing history, or advertising identifiers.
How we use it
We use this information solely to provide the app's features: storing and displaying your logs, generating the patterns and reports you ask for, backing up and syncing your data, and enabling sharing you initiate. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell it.
Pattern surfacing is not diagnosis
The app records observations and surfaces factual patterns in your data (for example, noting a multi-day change in energy). It does not diagnose, treat, or advise on any condition, and nothing in the app should be taken as veterinary advice. Always consult a licensed veterinarian about your pet's health.
Your data is always yours
Your records remain accessible regardless of subscription status. Paid intelligence features may lock if a subscription lapses, but the underlying record never does.
Subscriptions
Optional paid features are offered through an in-app subscription processed by Apple via RevenueCat. We receive subscription status (active or not) but not your payment-card details, which are handled by Apple.
Deleting your data
You can delete individual entries or pets in the app at any time. To delete your entire account and the data associated with it, use the in-app option or email support@brushline.ai, and we will process the deletion. Data stored only on your device is removed when you delete the app.
Service providers
Cloud features are hosted on Amazon Web Services. Subscription processing uses Apple and RevenueCat. These providers process data on our behalf under agreements that restrict their use of it. We do not share your pet records with any other third parties.
Children
The app is intended for adults who own or care for pets and is not directed to children.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and surface significant changes in the app.
